Frankfurt – a European City

The impact of the European Union on our everyday life is growing and with it the need to deal with European issues. The Office of International Affairs of the city of Frankfurt has a separate European section.

This section coordinates the city's European activities, its involvement in European networks, and Frankfurt’s position within Europe. Furthermore, it prepares and provides information on the EU and organizes events on EU issues. Its agenda also includes talks and panel discussions held in Frankfurt on the subjects of the respective European Years. The free guided tours of the city under the motto “The blue-and-yellow European flag over Frankfurt”, for instance, that are offered during the nationwide European Week in May every year, are very popular.

Another highlight is the European Central Bank's Cultural Days in Frankfurt that are organized by the European Central Bank in cooperation with the European department of the city of Frankfurt.
