Training at the City Council

Every year the City Council of Frankfurt am Main offers training courses in many different fields. As well as office-based, administrative and IT careers, there are also opportunities to train in medical, craft or technical fields.
The range of training courses we offer changes every year and we do not always offer training in all careers.

For almost all careers that require training, the period of training lasts 3 years. It is usually based on a dual training system: the practical content is provided in the respective employment area in the offices and services of the City Council of Frankfurt am Main; the theoretical part is taught in the training school.

Training at the city council starts in the autumn of each year, normally on 1.9. We generally accept applications approximately one year before the start of training, i.e. from 1.7. to 30.09. in the year prior to the start of training.

Depending on the career for which you are seeking training, one of the necessary application requirements is an official school leaving certificate.

Selection tests are held before decisions are made as to which applicants are to receive training places. The test generally includes a written, oral or even a practical part.

You will find details of the training courses we currently offer in the right-hand column under ‘”Further information” in the “Training at the City Council” section (Ausbildung in der Stadtverwaltung).
