This stretch of the street between Opernplatz and Börsenstraße is actually called ‘Große Bockenheimer Straße’, but for the locals, this pedestrian zone is always the ‘Fressgass’. For this is where Frankfurt’s culinary temptations are particularly great: restaurants and fine food shops invite you into the national and international world of gourmets. A visit to one of the street cafes is less costly and here visitors can watch the activities on the strolling mile, particularly in the summer. Those who just happen to be on a diet and cannot enjoy this culinary paradise may find something suitable in the noble boutiques and exclusive shops – depending on the size of their wallet or purse.
Interesting for the event calendar: the annual Fressgass’ festival in June and the annual Rheingau Wine Market in August. Both events are among the most popular festivals in Frankfurt.
